Trichotillomania

Trichotillomania or Trich as it is otherwise known is another condition that manifests itself as hair loss. The client who suffers from Trichotillomania has the obsessive urge to pull or twist out the hair from the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes and or other body hair. This is often heightened during periods of illness or and emotional stress.

Trichotillomania is not selective of class or age. Trichotillomania can and does often leave the sufferer feeling alone and ashamed, when in fact it is believed the number of Trichotillomania sufferers in the UK is currently around 2.5%.

Care must be taken if diagnosing Trichotillomania, often the client is in denial and experiencing a sense of shame for what she/he is doing so may offer her condition up as Alopecia Areata.

The pulling of hair, (Trichotillomania) has been likened to obsessive compulsive disorder, where there are some similar indications probably “impulse control disorder” is a more accurate term. The condition is treated often by counselling from medical experts, however, unproven, but Trichotillomania has also been linked with a mineral deficiency.

We at Wattz International offer our Trichotillomania clients patience and understanding. It has taken considerable strength of character and perhaps desperation to seek help.

We are not here to judge or council you, simply to make you regain your confidence and self esteem by giving you fantastic hair. This we believe is your best therapy and encourages avoidance of further pulling.

Our commitment to you will be to listen, to be understanding of your situation, to act on your needs and requirements fulfilling your desires for your hair.

At Wattz International we believe we can offer you the best solution to cover up your hair loss sites, effectively and safely, allowing your own hair to grow back as healthy as possible.

Trichotillomania – Sam’s Story

Sam, a beautiful young schoolgirl plagued by Trichotillomania.
We have found that the best therapy for Sam is to add hair additions, this system covers Sam’s own hair, layer by layer, so she can no longer get to her hair to pull.

The fact that she looks so fabulous with her new long hair also helps her to resist the urge.

Trichotillomania – Jane’s Story

Again, young Jane, a school girl with all the stress that modern life brings including school, exams and relationships, suffers from Trichotillomania.
We are currently monitoring Jane’s condition, as to which method of hair replacement is best for her.

(Jane is wearing temporary hair additions lasting between 4 and 12 weeks. This system is completely safe for the future growth of the hair and can be replaced until her own hair is long enough to styled as she desires).

Trichotillomania – Naomi’s Story

Naomi travels from Fareham and suffers from Trichotillomania.
We coloured Naomi’s hair and then fitted her with a temporary hair replacement. This will last approximately twelve weeks. During this time Naomi’s hair will be growing healthily until eventually she won’t be needing our help. We are hoping, by Naomi having her hair looking so good and normal and beautiful, it will have a positive effect in her therapy and to help her stop pulling.

“I travelled from Fareham, and was very nervous, apprehensive and vulnerable about visiting a salon, which is something I haven’t done for 15 years. Christine has achieved results that I never expected, I’m so happy! Now I have normal hair I feel confident and sexy. I loved the privacy and friendliness of the staff. I will definitely recommend Wattz International. My husband also enjoyed a haircut whilst we were in the salon and he took time to relax in the conservatory on the massage chairs.”
